The English Equestrian club team at Syracuse University competes in Zone 2, Region 2 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA). We accept all levels of undergraduate riders from beginner through 2'6"+ fences. Our coed team is typically comprised of 15-20 students from both Syracuse University and SUNY-ESF. We ride weekly with our coach Denise VanPatten.
We've been part of Syracuse University for over 20 years, riding and competing as a registered club sport. Our club thrives on the dedication of our members, the passion of our coach Denise Van Patten, and our strong team spirit. Above all, it is our love of horses and the sport that unifies us. |
Every year we work not only to improve our riding, but also to improve our community. We host programs in which local Girl Scout troops are welcome to come and learn about riding and horsemanship.
In the past, we have also volunteered our time to local Syracuse horse rehoming and rescue facility, Sunshine Horses, Inc. The English Equestrians believe that horseback riding is not only about the sport, but fostering a diverse, well-educated equine community. |
